Pet Ultrasound
A non-invasive way to diagnose sick & injured pets.
Ultrasound is an essential diagnostic tool because it gives us a non-invasive look at your pet's internal organs, chest and abdomen without surgery or sedation. Much like ultrasound for people, pet ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging technique used to diagnose sick and injured animals. It is invaluable for making treatment decisions for various types of conditions.
In most cases, the procedure is relatively brief and your pet is able to go home the very same day. Most importantly, though, an ultrasound will help us make an accurate diagnosis of your pet's condition and provide information for effective treatment recommendations.
How does ultrasound work?
When the sound waves penetrate the body, they “bounce” back. The ultrasound machine measures the time it takes for a sound wave to bounce back and creates an image.
What conditions can be diagnosed by ultrasound?
Some injuries and conditions that can be identified via ultrasound include:
- Bladder and kidney stones
- Gastrointestinal obstructions
- Pregnancy
- Cysts and tumors
- Heart conditions
Ultrasound also allow us to safely collect biopsy and fluid samples without having to perform invasive surgeries.
